I’m a newspaper reporter who is only a few years older than your friend’s son. In the past year, I have heard nothing except the world is ending (and this is coming from the editors). And with all the lay offs, I feel like they’re right. I love my job more than anything and I know it would be very difficult to find another job I enjoy so much, but sometimes I feel I have no choice but to look elsewhere.
But maybe you’re right and there is a glimmer of hope…I’m young and computerish…but who knows. But thanks for being positive for all of us young journalists out there who feel like they jumped on a crashing train. 🙂]]>
Edward: I can’t say I’ve ever seen the Spokesman-Review, so I defer to your judgment. However, there are a lot of reasons a paper could be difficult to read that are outside of the editor’s control. Smith does have a reputation for thinking outside the box.]]>
